Operations Specialist

Summary

Nimbis Services, Inc. is opening a Responsive Operations Center (ROC) on their Operations Team in Columbus, Ohio.  We are looking for 2 Operations Specialists to be the first employees to form the ROC team. The ROC will provide support for our applications from 8:00am – 8:00pm EST. Therefore, you will be required to work an early or late shift to provide this support. 

ROC is a dynamic/automation group that is a combination of Network Operations Center (NOC), Security Operations Center (SOC) and support functions.  The Operations Specialist works with the Operations Manager to monitor the cloud environment that powers the Trusted Silicon Stratus (TSS) and coordinate activities within the ROC. This role is the first responder for any alerts, inquires, incidents, or issues with our the TSS infrastructure and applications. You will assess and triage the situation, acknowledge the issue, and coordinate communication with internal stakeholders and with customers. This position will monitor the operations and security dashboards and make sure that all alerts/inquiries are followed up on appropriately and closed out once it has been resolved. Will work very closely with the Product and DevOps teams within Nimbis Services in resolving the issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with teams within Nimbis.

 

US Citizen Status is required for this position with potential clearance in the future.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor the infrastructure and systems that power our next-generation cloud platform for collaborative microelectronics design and engineering to ensure we meet our published SLA targets.
  • Perform the preliminary investigation and triage for new inquiries, alerts, and incidents to assess the scope of impact and to estimate the time-to-resolution.
  • Respond to inquiries, alerts, and incidents meeting Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets, while maintaining regular communication with any affected customers to ensure they are satisfied with the resolution.
  • Be professional, personable, courteous, factual, and empathetic in all customer communications.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve how we provide service and support to our customers and how we manage and monitor our next-generation cloud platform.
  • Write configuration management scripts to ensure the systems and infrastructure within the next-generation cloud platform are up to date and conform to any required governance polices.
  • Perform the preliminary investigation and triage for new inquiries, alerts, and incidents to assess the scope of impact and to Assist in documenting and updating procedures, runbooks, and guides to ensure knowledge, learning, and best practices are captured and shared among the team.
  • Participate on special projects as needed.

What we need:

  • Associate Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology (IT), Computer Programming, or 2-3 years equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of best practices in CI/CD (Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery), IT operations, and security
  • Experience in IT system monitoring, log management, and analysis
  • Proficiency in Amazon Web Services (AWS) – EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, VPCs, Route 53, CloudFormation, Lambda, CloudTrail
  • Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6/7 and Windows Server 2012R2/2016
  • Experience with programming in Python 3.6
  • Experience with the Git version control system
  • Experience with writing shell scripts in GNU Bash using regular expressions (regex) for Linux
  • Experience with writing shell scripts in PowerShell for Windows
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and teamwork skills

 

What we would like to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science (CS/CSE), or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of modern, dynamic, web application architectures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with HashiCorp Terraform, Vault, and Packer
  • Experience with Ansible for IT automation and configuration management
  • Experience with the Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana (ELK) stack
  • Experience with programming in Java 8+
